Opening by Klara Lewis

Opening by Klara Lewis

For fans of Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Yoo Doo Right, noisy ambient music, and the nightmarish vertigo of a mirror maze, Opening by Klara Lewis filters our experience of music through an anxious subconscious, resulting in the foreboding hum of a mind always preparing for the next disaster. A foundation of strings, synths, and sounds that could easily pass for both hold us in a state of eerie dissonance, shimmering with warmth just begging to burst through but doomed to stay in this foreboding twilight instead. At times, however, that warmth manages to take the reins, giving us brief moments of transcendent joy which wash over us in spite of the distortion supplied by our anxious core. There’s a warm hand of the divine out there just waiting to comfort us in all our immediate catastrophes, and despite our best efforts we will one day find ourselves in its embrace.
