Two Wheels Move the Soul by Robber Robber

For fans of Feeble Little Horse, Snōōper, The Strokes, contemporary post punk, and the increasingly difficult act of “playing it cool,” Two Wheels Move the Soul by Robber Robber observes a struggle for normalcy amid an environment suffocating us with sources of anxiety. Much of the record’s nervous energy springs from the oppressive rhythmic consistency and constant melodic dissonance sourced from post punk traditions. By demonstrating such mechanical persistence, Robber Robber establishes this dark aesthetic as originating from outside ourselves and exerting a constant, unstoppable pressure which locks us in an emotional prison. Within these confines, vocals maintain an uncomfortably chipper, poppy tone, forming a jagged edge against the instrumentals which sharpens with the inclusion of lyrics which resemble the teetering edge of a panic attack. Try as we might to outrun the world, that dark, anxious groove always lingers one step behind, forcing us to live on the terms of a tempo designed to keep us in eternal dissonance.
