The Virgin’s Ballade by Wet Silhouette

The Virgin’s Ballade by Wet Silhouette

For fans of Julie Christmas, Guts Club, The New Eves, atmospheric art rock, and the feeling that literally everything in the universe has conspired to ruin your life, The Virgin’s Ballade by Wet Silhouette takes anger to a cataclysmic scale, creating enormous atmospheres to fill with pure, justified resentment. Sludgy influences at first manifest in both tempo and style, with distorted guitars and booming drums propelling an anguished voice forward with a genuinely unsettling force. While these early moments project a sense of strength in the face of an aggressor, of fighting back against wrongdoing in a genuine attempt to restore justice, a profound sense of despair quickly follows, a change marked by increasingly abstract surroundings and a lack of driving force. Under the weight of these sludgy tempos, we find that nature itself has turned its back on us, leaving us utterly hopeless at the hand of all that has been and ever will be.
