Root Systems by History Dog

We naturally understand communities as requiring a set of shared ideas, moved to action by a collective logic executed through formal or informal hierarchies. However, for every high principle that sprouts above the surface, innumerable tendrils of id extend into the void, a collective set of subconscious motivations brought to life on Root Systems by History Dog. Instruments, voices, samples, and noise interact organically, reaching consensus and reacting to the environment without any verbal debate, written doctrine, or tallied vote. In one instance, an offensive joke enters this collective id, the subconscious network pouncing on this opportunity for a response and immediately responding with collective emotion. Our view of the event gets cut short of any actual resolution, or of any verbal response at all aside from an exasperated exclamation, but the musical framing of these few words within a frantic, energetic, percussive, angular environment shows us the community’s real, raw reaction from which any other action will proceed. We’re moved by similar forces every day, and recognizing that can help us understand and improve the communities we call home.
