Pugnello by Gilla Band

Pugnello by Gilla Band

For fans of Nine Inch Nails, Ramleh, Uboa, semi-progressive noise rock, and dancing to the voices of your own psychosis, Pugnello by Gilla Band brings an industrial flair to the current wave of noise rock, blurring the lines between electronic noise and acoustic performance and by extension blurring the lines between our delusions and real-life absurdity. Repetitious riffing deepens already blisteringly intense moments of catharsis, drawing us into a manic state deepened by spoken stream-of-consciousness vocals. From the amusingly mundane to the existentially horrifying, these spoken statements bounce around the postmodern experience rhizomatically, using a mental health crisis as a lens for the experience of everything rather than as an acute list of symptoms. However, as we follow the logic unfolding through these ramblings, we find a flawless recreation of our contemporary chaos, pressing us to question whether these altered mental states are truly disorders or rather a rational reaction to a deeply hostile environment.
