Low on Foot by Slow Mass

Low on Foot by Slow Mass

Bridging the divide between the shimmery, splashy shoegaze-obsessed world of indie rock and the dissonant realm of the noise rock vanguard, Low on Foot by Slow Mass fittingly engages with themes of social wandering and personal rebuilding with their unique brand of catchy, tense, and dynamic post hardcore. Lyrical narratives sketch out a character projecting strength out to a community that simultaneously alienates and sustains them, leaving us as the listener in an uncomfortable space between security and anxiety. Vocal leads which could easily appear on alternative radio coexist with suspended post rock guitar work, constantly preventing these hooky vocals from fully unspooling the tension that hangs over the entire record. As we throw ourselves into a new community with new values alongside the narrator, we increasingly squirm under the pressure to reform our personal lives into this new image, a process which will always leave ends untied and will ultimately end somewhere between where we stand and an ideal, harmonious future.
