A Simple Life by Shark?

Geek chic aesthetics typically portray the geek as an insurgent, as something fundamentally alternative or challenging which will radically shift the world once they consolidate their power. After living definitively under geek rule for 30 years, we can safely say that no geek ever gets taken seriously as this sort of insurgent figure anymore, and any hope for a geek utopia has shifted into more nuanced art like A Simple Life by Shark?. Clearly informed by power pop but unbound by its chart-seeking limitations, these songs drop classic catchy riffs and anthemic melodies into chaotic, abstract, noisy collectively improvisations. Classic relatable themes of office politics and angsty discontent still appear, but instead of letting this steam out through sheer volume played with a self-aware wink and nod, Shark? deconstructs these feelings with the help of their friends. Thus, the dull tyranny of the vengeful geek chic rocker crumbles, disappearing into a wind carrying true creative flows that always run counter to such despotism.
