Eight Ascensions by Safezonefire

For fans of The Strokes, Cistern, Bladee, bedroom pop, and the half-sleep of a summer red eye train as the sunrise peeks over the blur of countryside, Eight Ascensions by Safezonefire skates just above our day-to-day concerns through a dreamy take on the online post punk sound. A heavily compressed combination of angular guitars, minimal percussion, and smooth synths evoke a retrofuturist atmosphere, a sound which inspires nostalgia for a time when hope still ruled the zeitgeist. When fed through the production’s signature, aggressive lo-fi compression, these drum machines expand into a critical piece of the atmosphere, their dependable, straightforward rhythms forming a foundation mirroring our breath, our heartbeat, and our entire physical essence. From here, we give ourselves permission to depart on a pleasant dream, the sort which allows us to awake with the rare feeling that everything will work out, that we are destined for some sort of clean, satisfying resolution to those thoughts which crowd our waking minds. Soon, we awake, but for now, we ascend.
