So Afraid to Show I Care by Theo Alexander and QOW

So Afraid to Show I Care by Theo Alexander and QOW

The early days of a relationship can feel like a slow climb to a harrowing cliff, culminating in a vulnerable leap of faith. Those final moments before this decisive point motivate the experimental electronica of So Afraid to Show I Care by Theo Alexander and QOW, a reflection of the naive beauty of the earliest, shallowest days of love as the first great test of loyalty looms overhead. At first, shimmery tape loops coincide with warm vintage synths to recreate those carefree days of early romance, with endless potential lying ahead and no fears of collapse. As the album progresses, increasingly anxious vocal tape loops swirl, conducting a tense swell of synths that feel increasingly alienating and cold. Soon, once we vocalize our feelings, we will place ourselves at the mercy of our partner, terrifyingly vulnerable and open to their judgement in a way that our lives rarely require of us.
