Motocrossed by Motocrossed
For fans of Shallowater, Slowdive, contemporary post rock, and the molding of kitchy Americana into shapes beautiful and tragic, Motocrossed by Motocrossed marks a peak in the emotional strength of the current wave of shoegaze with their cozy environments and dark undertones. Telling stories of hopeless young romance that shrivels by its obsessive self-comparison to tv and movie romance tropes, graceful, hypnagogic vocals team up with a soft horn section, comfortable acoustic guitars, and a classic rock lead guitar tone to place us in the disorientingly open spaces of American suburbia. Meanwhile, a dark, emotional storm brews in the rhythm section, with drums that bend to the whim of the pitiful romantic and thrust the band into moments of frenzied chaos. As reality continuously fails to match our Hollywood expectations, the dampened color and unorganized awkwardness of the real world shatters our hearts. Until we give up these unrealistic and frankly undesirable expectations, we will continue on the emotional rollercoaster of Motocrossed, turning into a sick parody of those revered on-screen personalities until our own stories end in disaster.
