Mothcomma by Dead Voices on Air

For fans of Oneohtrix Point Never, Morgan Garrett, Massive Attack, early post rock, and the menacing hum of fluorescent lighting over an empty office, Mothcomma by Dead Voices on Air resurrects our liminal spaces using a fittingly post industrial sound, creating something equal parts eerie and vibrant in the process. Every track opens up a massive acoustic space through spacey guitars, sparse percussion, and foreboding synths, these long tones and wide gaps mostly containing uncannily disjointed harmonies and uncomfortably mechanical hums. A strikingly intimate vocal delivery runs counter to all this alienating space, closing in on us and sending shivers down our spine through near-whispered tones at point-blank range. In this supposedly abandoned environment, the only remaining life appears overbearing and oppressive, signaling that even amidst the complete collapse of all systems, the last structure remaining will still be one of interpersonal domination.
