Magazine by YHWH Nailgun

Magazine by YHWH Nailgun

For fans of Coil, Lightning Bolt, Mamaleek, the frantic, semi-electronic fringes of the noise rock scene, and a magnetic obsession with seemingly random religious artifacts, Magazine by YHWH Nailgun blasts through ten distinct searches for meaning in eleven minutes, each one unapologetically abandoning us in the throes of unfulfilled tension. Where previous YHWH Nailgun compositions provided at least a fleeting moment where the band’s trademark chaotic grooves open up into  something more spacious, Magazine instead stews in pure industrial desperation, boldly refusing release at every opportunity. We stand closer to the vocals than ever before, drawing us deeper with lyrically esoteric mad-dashes towards the old gods, a desperate response to a culture which provides us nothing with which to construct a purpose. Whether these snippets show us a single person at different times, completely unrelated people reacting to the same pressures, or maybe even several identities all residing within the same body at the same time, all signs on this extremely finite record point straight towards infinity, with that coveted release forever in the distance.
