KKUURRSSEE by Talpah

Trap was one of the biggest genres of the last decade, and had an immeasurable impact on popular music today. Now Post-Trap is here to remix and go deeper into the dark grime that made Trap music stand out. And on his new album KKUURRSSEE, Italian producer Talpah explores a sound so cold and violent, it undoubtedly surpasses the intensity of any previous Trap release. Pulling elements from industrial music and dark techno, these sounds are deconstructed down to their base elements and reformed to create highly textured beats and an atmosphere of unrestrained chaos. This style of intricately layered noise can become quickly muddied, but on this release each detail is isolated, identifiable within the mix and delivered with precision. Because this record is so focused on its complex production style, the featured verses from underground artists like Catnapp, Lord Spikeheart, and false prpht only stand out more. And while such a sonic assault could become overwhelming, KKUURRSSEE is balanced out with enough moments of reprise that only make the darkness feel darker. The result is a boundary-pushing record that rises above the fray to propel Post-Trap into uncharted territories, turning aggression into an art form. -Kalen
