i’m am in dark places by SARN

For fans of Björk, Slint, bedroom pop, melancholic diary entries, and a nostalgia for when things didn’t feel this way, i’m am in dark places by SARN has an experimental electronic sound that will hit you where it hurts. Telling the story of a persistent depressive decline, SARN languishes in an unseen pain as the world carries on, small talk and white lies only feeding the fire inside. Above all else, however, these charming little vignettes of crisp percussive samples and transparently artificial synths convey a guilt at taking up the time and attention of loved ones in this moment of need. Even as brighter, better days fade into the background, their ghosts torture the album, amplifying guilt at a diminished capacity to lift the sourits of family and friends. Of course we want those pristine, blissful moments of old to stand out in their minds, but the long shadow of today’s pain drains the color from even the purest joys of the past.
