Heaven Is a Place I Can’t Stay by Holy Taker

Heaven Is a Place I Can’t Stay by Holy Taker

For fans of Ethel Cain, Giles Corey, Jane Remover, the current wave of spiritual dark folk, and chance meetings which spur lifelong relationships, Heaven Is a Place I Can’t Stay by Holy Taker meditates upon the low-probability events which brought us into being through a dark, minimal, abstract approach to folk songwriting. Intensity slowly built through the additions of guitars, percussion, horns, organs, and increasingly desperate vocals guides us through the natural emotional swells of deep contemplation, weaving between a comfort with our existence’s fragility and a deep existential paranoia over the sheer randomness of things. Abstract poetry hits home emotionally through this intense delivery, helping us to experience these thoughts which we’re often predisposed to ignoring or outright avoiding. When we take these steps to appreciate the absurdity, the near-impossibility, of our own lives and all those we find to share it with, we gain a spiritual humility which brightens our days and leads us to cherish those impossible moments we find with those we love.
