Enter the Misanthropocene by Abhorent Expanse

Enter the Misanthropocene by Abhorent Expanse

For fans of Peter Brötzman, Boris, grindcore, and the imminent end of the world in the most embarrassing way possible, Enter the Misanthropocene by Abhorent Expanse unleashes humanity’s most disgusting, self-serving impulses into an abstract, bizarre sonic landscape. Like much of more traditional grindcore, these songs expose the disgusting, bleeding flesh tucked away from polite society, focusing on the most carnal and animalistic aspects of our identity through sheer musical intensity. However, grindcore appears here entirely deconstructed, only occasionally reaching familiar heights of blast beat drums, growling vocals, and frantic guitar. Instead, Abhorent Expanse use free improvisation to let our self-destructive id speak for itself, introducing immense tension to the grindcore aesthetic through the inclusion of sections of vast, droning guitar and sparse, unpredictable percussion. In reality, our destruction of the earth will only contain the excitement, the direction, and the tempo of grindcore in the most abstract sense. Our future is one of pensive animosity, one of constant suspicion and systemic confusion until the abrupt, traumatic eruption which wipes us from existence.
