At first glance, this album’s sharply angular guitars, complex lumbering grooves, and desperately strained vocals constitute the epitome of intentional dissonance, immersing us in the sort of post hardcore space designed to force us into discomfort. However, especially as these extended song structures progress and we acclimate to this compositional language, an unconventional type of beauty emerges, one constructed of that same material which constitutes the rotten spirit of our times.
