Abagnale by Medieval Found Footage

For fans of Slint, Mr Beast Death 2030, early Black Country, New Road, first wave emo, and the agony of staying up at night wondering what could have been, Abagnale by Medieval Found Footage comes to terms with the permanence of past mistakes through the course of a manic, jagged post rock narrative. Opening in a frenzied state anchored by unhinged vocal performances which spiral far outside the band’s control, our narrator languishes in inevitability and guilt so viscerally and vulnerably as to leave us deeply uncomfortable with dropping in to listen. Over time, the band’s dissonant grooves and wild dynamic shifts start to stabilize into a warmer shade of melancholy, marking an acceptance of the past and the beginnings of a process of moving on. Maybe our lives would’ve dramatically improved without a few key mistakes, but it’s  more likely that we would just have all the same feelings about a new set of events, since no matter how far we run away, we’ll always find the same face in the mirror.
